Mission Statement

The goal of the Junior Wildcats Youth Basketball Program is to:

  1. Develop and promote the ideals of responsibility, hard work, sportsmanship, teamwork and friendship within a safe and positive environment.
  2. Provide a competitive, cost-effective, youth basketball program designed to give each player the opportunity to learn, develop and improve their basketball skills.
  3. Prepare players to succeed in Westlake High School’s basketball program.

Philosophy

The Junior Wildcats focus on consistent hard work and striving to become a better player. We believe in pushing your teammates to be better, picking them up when they are down, and always believing in yourself. Character is often revealed in competitive basketball. The Junior Wildcat program utilizes these opportunities to help kids develop a strong, positive, caring character. This will benefit them not only in basketball, but in life.

Academic Success

Junior Wildcats support the critical role that academics play in the development of our student/athletes and recognizes the need to perform in the classroom as well as on the court.   It is never the desire of the Junior Wildcats to have sports take precedence over school requirements.   If a conflict should arise, please notify your coach immediately. We would ask that parents support this effort in order to encourage academic success for every player.
